Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Electronic stability control is a braking system that automatically controls the driving behaviour of your caravan. The electronic stability controller monitors dangerous lateral movements, taking action where necessary via the electric brake system, to maintain your road position and provide you with peace of mind.
Trakmaster provide two different types of sway control systems, AL-KO Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Dexter Sway Control System (DSC). Both units continuously monitor side to side movement, small and large sways or one large sudden lateral movement.
AL-KO Electronic Stability Control
AL-KO ESC continuously evaluates the data from your caravan’s motion. If critical lateral movements are recognised then ESC activates and immediately applies the brakes on all wheels to bring the vehicle back into line in a smooth and controlled manner. Applying the brakes on the caravan immediately straightens the car and caravan and prevents any further oscillation.
Dexter Sway Control
In a sway event the Dexter Sway Control (DSC) unit uses the data received to apply the brakes only on the correct side of the caravan. The braking is applied in a timely manner and at the proper levels based on the sway conditions.
Powerful rapid processing capabilities of the Dexter Sway Control captures the critical elements that affect sway conditions. This information is then used to sense how the sway will proceed and is corrected without any driver intervention.
